How to Delete a Facebook Account
Even though Facebook is the most popular social networking site on the internet, with over a billion members with accounts worldwide, more and more people are getting to the point where they want to wash their hands of the website completely. To get rid of your Facebook account, follow these simple steps.
First: Go to the “settings” tab
To delete your Facebook account, you first need to login to your account. After successfully logging in, click the settings tab located at the top of the page.
Second: Choose Facebook account deletion option
Once you have gone to the settings menu, there are a few options. Click “delete” and not “deactivate.” If you click deactivate instead of delete, certain information associated with your account still remains on the site.
Third: Correctly enter the CAPTCHA
After you have chosen the delete option, Facebook asks you to enter a CAPTCHA. This is put in place as a way to ensure that the intention is to delete the page because once the page is deleted; it is never reopened again.
Fourth: Avoid attempting to login
As a courtesy, Facebook temporarily deactivates the page for two weeks, but if you login to the account in the meantime, your page remains open. It is important to avoid logging in, even if you are curious to see if your page is still active.
Fifth: Check your email
After the two week period has elapsed, Facebook will send you an e-mail confirming the deletion.
